Mature course in Scottsdale

Orange Tree Golf Course originally opened in in 1957 and was re-designed in 1977. As a result, it doesn't feel like many desert-style courses in the valley. It is very mature, with a lot of trees on the course. This is a parkland-style course with reasonable fairways. There houses that line most of the course, some of these are old shacks and some are ultra modern and very impressive. We played on Sunday afternoon in September and the course was not super busy and we were able to move through it at a reasonable pace. There is a driving range, you do pay for those balls separately. The carts are a little older, but do include GPS. There is a snack shack between holes 1 and 10 and there was cart service. As for the golf, I felt it was a decent course. The sand traps could be improved as the sand was very chunky and not fine grained. The greens were small and protected pretty well. For the price we paid, it was a decent experience, but I would definitely not pay a premium to play here. After the round, they have a nice shaded patio with misters. Even thought it was over 100F, you could relax in comfort.
