Donald Trump’s ‘Don Colossus’ Statue Becomes Talking Point at Doral
A giant gold statue of Donald Trump has become one of the biggest attractions at Trump National Doral during the Cadillac Championship. Players and fans have shared mixed reactions to the towering display nicknamed “Don Colossus.”

Golfers arriving at Trump National Doral Miami for the Cadillac Championship were greeted by an unusual sight this week, a massive gold statue of Donald Trump standing near the driving range. The 22 foot statue, known as “Don Colossus,” quickly became one of the most talked about features at the tournament.
The statue shows Trump raising his fist after the 2024 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. Ohio sculptor Alan Cottrill created the bronze structure, which is covered in gold leaf and reportedly cost around $360,000 to complete. The project was backed by the cryptocurrency group $PATRIOT before finally being installed at Doral earlier this spring.
Several PGA Tour players reacted to the statue with humor and surprise. Rickie Fowler described it as “big and gold,” while Brian Harman said Trump can “do whatever he wants” on his own property. Tommy Fleetwood joked that maybe one day he would put up a giant statue of himself if he owned a golf resort.
Online reactions have been far more divided. Some fans viewed the statue as entertaining and fitting for Trump’s personality, while critics called it excessive and compared it to monuments seen in authoritarian countries. No matter the opinion, the statue has become impossible to ignore during the PGA Tour’s return to Doral for the first time in a decade.
