USGA Launches New AI Tool To Help Golfers Understand The Rules

The United States Golf Association has officially launched a new AI powered Rules tool that gives golfers instant answers to questions about the game. The feature was created to simplify the often confusing Rules of Golf and provide players with faster guidance during practice rounds, tournaments, and casual play. 

The new system allows users to type questions in plain language instead of searching through the full rule book manually. Golfers can ask about penalties, drops, hazards, relief options, and other common situations, with the AI generating direct explanations and references to the official rules. The USGA says the tool was trained using the organization’s complete Rules database.

USGA officials believe the technology can help make the game more accessible, especially for younger and newer golfers who may find the rules intimidating. The governing body also said the AI tool will continue improving as more users submit questions and feedback throughout the season. 

While the AI assistant is expected to become a useful resource, the USGA confirmed that official tournament rulings will still come from rules officials and committees during competitions. Even so, the launch marks another major step in golf’s growing use of technology to modernize the sport and improve the experience for players around the world.
